This year’s XMA Cross Media Awards focused on paid-for content applications for tablets and smartphones. Hundreds of news, service and entertainment apps have been generated for these devices by the media industry. Thanks to the app environment, these platforms represent a real opportunity to win back readers, increase loyalty and generate new revenues. Companies that succeed in developing smart strategies to motivate their readers to buy or subscribe their services and content could enter their app offer in the contest. Our jury considered a number of factors such as design, content relevancy, integration of different features (such as text, video, audio, image galleries), navigation and the business model behind the app. We encourage all Expo participants to visit the special exhibition of the WAN-IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards 2011, which you will find at the Media Port in Hall A, open on all exhibition days. You are as well invited to join us at the winners’ ceremony, to be held during the IFRA Expo Get-Together, which starts at 18.00 on the first day of IFRA Expo, at the Media Port in Hall A. The attendance is free to all IFRA Expo visitors.
